Our Client are looking to recruit an experienced engineer to act as the facilities support manager (FSM) within our manufacturing, assembly, integration and test department (MAIT).

The prime activity requires the co-ordination of a number of small teams responsible for the test support facilities, ensuring procedures used in the test departments are conforming to those used in MAIT.

In conjunction with the projects operation manager, within the telecommunications business unit, the FSM will ensure adequate resources are available to support off site activities. Forward planning is an essential part of the role requiring the provision of monthly forward load data to support resource planning ensuring the forward load is in line with MAIT multi project plans. The FSM will manage the elimination of single point failures by ensuring the staff are adequately trained in line with the work load requirements.

The control of materiel is critical to the schedules, the FSM will ensure plant is adequate for the work load, manpower and capital equipment (CAPEX) requirements have been identified. To maintain full control of capital equipment the FSM is responsible for maintaining the CAPEX system, managing the tooling request and tooling purchasing system, within MAIT and for the control and movement of tooling on and off site, to maximise clean room space, including the escort for the shipment of products off site.

Facilities Support Manager Key requirements

A working knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing techniques and an understanding of environmental/health and safety procedures will be an advantage.

Engineering Manager

Mission
The Engineering Manager will be the lead for all engineering aspects of this challenging project and will provide the major technical interface with the Customer (ESA) and with subcontractors. The Engineering Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that ENS system engineering processes are effectively applied throughout the design lifecycle.

Internal Relationships
The position reports directly to the Solar Orbiter Project Manager. The Engineering Manager will liaise with functional groups and specialist engineers to ensure that best practice is used within the project, that lessons learnt from other programmes are being applied and that there is a coherent flow of technical data between the engineering teams.

External
The Engineering Manager will maintain a good working relationship with the Customer and with subcontractors on all project related technical matters. He or she will be the primary point of contact with the Customer on all engineering issues.

Previous Experience
Prior experience with spacecraft projects for a large institutional or commercial Customer would be preferred. Previous involvement at engineering leadership level in programmes with significant space technology development would be advantageous. The key domain is engineering management of the design, development, validation and delivery of high value systems, comprising thermal, mechanical, propulsion, avionics, control and software subsystems.

Main Responsibilities
• Develop the top-level system architecture for Solar Orbiter.
• Lead the overall system design process.
• Agree the system requirements with the Customer.
• Conduct technical evaluation of supplier proposals, in conjunction with the project and customer teams.
• Manage the project engineering team to achieve their technical, financial and programmatic requirements.
• Organise technical reviews of major elements and ensure that the internal review process is applied across the project.
• Maintain contacts with engineering teams within ENS and other Business Units, with particular emphasis on maintaining a coherent data flow and ensuring applicable lessons learned are implemented.
• Maintain forward load of engineering requirements for the project, liaising with resource managers to ensure availability of suitable staff.

The Role

Mission
The Engineering Manager will be the lead for all engineering aspects of this challenging project and will provide the major technical interface with the Customer (ESA) and with subcontractors. Internal Relationships
