Training Assessor BTCV

£17,350 to £22,004 per annum, pro rata
BTCV is the UK’s leading practical conservation charity working with people from all sectors of the community in positive action to improve the environment.
BTCV Cymru in partnership with NOMS delivers accredited OCN training and skills build activities for people with offending backgrounds in Gwent A Training Assessor is required to motivate and support these learners and assist the participants to complete the programmes and secure suitable pathways / directions. The Trainer will deliver in each location 2 hour units at Probation Offices with time allocated either side for preparation and liaison with placement Officers. Hours of work are normally up to 4 hours per session. Days of work are currently subject to negotiation with local Probation Offices – Saturday and Evening work may be a requirement in certain areas.
BTCV requires an enthusiastic and creative person who has effective communication skills, experience in working with people within a learning environment and have a level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
The post holder would be expected to have the means to be able to make their own travel arrangements to training venues as their place of work.
8 hours per week subject to location which may vary, short term contract until 31/3/10

Fel rheol bydd yr oriau gwaith yn 2 awr y dydd gydag un diwrnod, bob pythefnos, ar gyfer adrodd i’r Rheolwyr. Mae’r union ddyddiau gwaith yn fater sydd yn cael ei drafod gyda Swyddogion Prawf lleol ar hyn o bryd – gall y bydd gofyn gweithio ar Sadyrnau a gyda’r nos mewn rhai lleoliadau.

Conservation Officer/Supervisor BTCV

Come and join the conservation team in Skewen to deliver countryside conservation and associated construction/ habitat management projects within East Carmarthenshire and Swansea areas.

As a Conservation Officer you will contribute to and develop new ideas for environmental education activities delivering OCNs to support worthwhile work experience to clients and volunteers.
A good knowledge of practical habitat management and species would be an advantage along with first class engagement and motivational skills.
The position requires Saturday working and one day in the week with the possibility of extension to 3 days and longer contract subject to funding.
Part time 14 hours (negotiable)
Temporary until 31/03/09

Youth Volunteer Advisor BTCV
Cromford (Derbyshire)
£19,610 per annum
vinvolved Derbyshire is a partnership programme between BTCV and Volunteer Centres Derbyshire. Funding for the project has been secured until March 2011. The vinvolved team is part of the National Youth Volunteering Programme which aims to inspire a generation of young people aged 16 – 25 to participate in new volunteering opportunities. Working as part of a team the successful candidate will support towards:
• Creating new volunteering opportunities
• Brokering young people into volunteering placements
• Champion youth-led action
As a Youth Volunteer Advisor, you will have the skills to identify and broker new opportunities for young people. You will recruit, train and support a dynamic Youth Action Team and identify groups of young people who are under-represented in volunteering and co-ordinate targeted outreach and recruitment programmes in key areas.
You will have good communication, time management and organisational skills, be able to work both independently and as part of a team covering the county. Along with experience of working in partnership with a number of organisations.
Applicants must have held a full driving licence for a minimum of one year as the post holder will be required to use a fleet vehicle whilst at work.
35 hours per week

York & N.Yorkshire Area Training Co-ordinator BTCV

The BTCV is seeking an enthusiastic, flexible team player to join its York, North Yorkshire and Humber Team. Working closely with other team members you will develop, co-ordinate and deliver a range of environmental and capacity building courses in the area. Training may range from practical environmental to wildlife identification skills and first aid training to CV writing.

This is a new post based in York. The successful candidate will have training / teaching experience and qualifications with the ability to deliver and / or co-ordinate accredited and non-accredited courses, to a wide range of individuals. They will ideally have experience of IAG, ASDAN Youth Achievement Awards and NVQs. Good communication, organisational and administrative skills are an essential requirement of the post. The individual will have a practical environmental or horticultural background and be occupationally competent to deliver training in these areas.
* A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. The post holder will on occasion have use of a company vehicle.

This role involves delivering induction and job search sessions as part of an employment programme. This includes planning and preparing induction and job search training sessions, assessing learners’ needs, providing support, information and guidance, and monitoring performance.
You will have experience of carrying out skills assessments, delivering training, motivating others, and reviewing performance against objectives. You have good communication and time management skills. You also have an understanding of the issues faced by the long-term unemployed and enjoy working with a diverse range of people.

A full driving licence is desirable as the post holder has use of a company vehicle.
