Job Title - Service Desk/Network Engineer (shifts)
Location - Newport, South Wales
Salary - £25k - £30k

Job Role - The Service Desk/Network Engineer will provide operational support to a number of Military Data Networks and Commercial Public Safety Data Networks along with other customer networks where you will provide control, monitoring and remote maintenance. The Service Desk/Network Engineer will record and respond to faults as reported via remedy or directly by the on-site Network Manager/Comms Officer. The Service Desk/Network Engineer will diagnose problems and remotely fix them within SLAs or if necessary call out field maintenance engineers to attend site. The Service Desk/Network Engineer will also carry out routine network house-keeping tasks and when required, visit customer sites to conduct surveys or provide 2nd line assistance.
Essential Skills - HNC or equivalent Comms/Engineering discipline. CCNA/Meridian Option 11C telephone Exchange/OTM/Netcool/Unix/CA Spectrum/Remedy6/Solarwinds Orion/WinXP. Experience in support of military/commercial comms systems, field or desk based. Experience of general networking/datacomms in an IP environment (Hubs, Switches, Routers). Knowledge of military comms systems.
Desirable Skills - Security Cleared
The shift pattern is 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off - 12 hour shifts 7 till 7 |
